Small Town, Big Retail
Environmentally-conscious, featured in a PBS documentary
In 2005, Swain & Associates purchased Carteret Crossing Shopping Center, a 40,000-square-foot Lowes Foods store and 15,000 square feet of shops. After acquiring the center, Swain added 12,000 square feet of inline retail space, expanded the Lowes Foods grocery store, and developed outparcels that include Walgreens, Wells Fargo Bank, Starbucks, Realo Pharmacy, and Lowes Foods Fuel. In addition, Swain
& Associates acquired land adjacent to the center and developed a Lowe’s Home Improvement store. Because of the environmentally sensitive area, the stormwater retention ponds were specially designed to hold 10 times the amount of stormwater required by the state. The project was one of our most environmentally conscious to date and was featured in a PBS documentary.
